Developing Trade & Investment

The Worcestershire Chinese Association continues to play an active role in developing trade with China & encouraging Chinese investment in Worcestershire, supporting Worcestershire Ambassadors - www.worcestershireambassadors.com

Members of the Worcestershire Chinese Association helped to organise & took part in 2 overseas visits to China in 2012 & 2014.

In addition, support has been given by us to Worcestershire Ambassadors in hosting incoming visits from China in 2013, 2015, 2016 & 2017.

Worcestershire Ambassadors Trade Mission to China October 2012

In 2012 Phil Dutton lead the first Worcestershire Ambassadors Trade Mission out to China visiting the cities of Guangzhou, Nanning and Hezhou. The cities were selected as 3 Graduates from University of Worcester had achieved high ranking positions in local government. Guangzhou already had close links with Birmingham and Bristol and had little synergies with Worcestershire. The location identified as having the greatest opportunity for trade was the city of Hezhou. University Graduate Grace Pan Ming had achieved the position of Vice Mayor. Her time in Worcestershire was the happiest of her life and she was keen to develop formal links between Hezhou and the County.

Hezhou Delegation return to Worcester July 2013

The Worcestershire Ambassadors hosted the Hezhou delegation creating a detailed itinerary for them including Factory tours, London Visit (including meeting the 4 Worcestershire MPs in Parliament) and culminating in execution of Letter of Intent for Sister City Status and a Civic Reception at the Guildhall. Grace Pan Ming was made an honorary member of the Worcestershire Ambassadors.

The second trade visit to China was made up of all the key partners in Worcestershire including Robin Walker MP, Adrian Gregson of Worcester City Council, Simon Geraghty Deputy Leader of Worcestershire County Council, Peter Pawsey Executive Chair of the LEP and Frankie Tsang of the Worcestershire Chinese Association. The delegation was also joined by Worcestershire businesses.

Huizhou Delegation visit to Worcester
June 2015

The Delegation was met by the Mayor of Huizhou. The Worcestershire delegation were able to present their mandarin version of World Class Worcestershire to the City Leadership Team and we learnt more about Huizhou.
This city is more advanced in its development than Hezhou and there are synergies with Worcestershire as it is an area designated by Government for Technology.
